Believe it or not ...before there was Hype Williams (the group) there was Pastor/Physicians Of California just like before Death Grips and Clipping. there was Deriviitve but not before Dalek...ok now that we got that straight...that isn't to say that lo-fi wasn't everywhere and that I was not a fan of its permutations in pop and elsewhere...But if I'm to give full credit to anyone it has to go to Tricky who opened my eyes to pleasures of a grainy loop and barely uttered vocals...DJ Draven or Alfredo Camba is responsible for all the loops here although they underwent some manipulation and further mixing at my hands...Upon hearing the first loop unspool itself before me I had no choice but to indulge its greasy murk and trip the hop fantastic.
